AirAddress is an exploration of handicraft and technology. Using silk screen, thermochromatic dyes, and organic linen the piece was created to visualize volatile organic compounds in the atmosphere. This piece was designed and created by Sue Ngo. |
Warning Signs is a visualization of the pollution that exists invisibly all around us. When the wearable senses carbon monoxide, the piece subtly changes color and pattern to indicate higher levels of carbon monoxide in the atmosphere to the wearer and those around him or her. Art is Mobile is an online art gallery populated through SMS and MMS technology for Sri Lankan children who are dealing with the trauma of civil war or the tsunami or simply need an outlet for expression. Young people are encouraged to create art and share it through their mobile phones to an online gallery where they can vote on and explore each other's artwork. SwingFWD is an interactive installation that played on themes of nostalgia, time and space. The user controlled images projected onto the surface in front of them by the playing on the swing. SwingFWD was recently installed as part of Brooklyn Site festival. The piece was designed and created by Sue Ngo.

Lumilife is a stand-alone kinetic art piece with functionality. Lumilife inconspiciously charges in sun or light and illuminates and bellows when the lantern is in the dark. The project uses a nocturnal circuit and a motor control circuit. The piece was designed and created by Zevensuy Rodriguez and Sue Ngo. |
Zen Grass is a synaesthetic experience, combining touch with sound and smell. The main goal was to encourage people to take time out of their day to stop and smell the (wheat) grass. When one strokes the grass, the sensors are set off and will play calming sound files. We hand-made five switches using copper tubing and piano wire, which were then embedded within the wheat grass. Each sensor set off a different sound files in processing, the sounds included two tibetan bowls playing, chanting and sitar strumming. Kinetic Ninja is an educational toy designed to encourage children to learn about energy. An electromagnetic field created by shaking the object powers a small hacked voice recorder / play back device. When enough energy is generated from shaking, the voice recorder will playback the theme song to Mortal Kombat. The form factor was a knit hand-held object. Kinetic Ninja was designed and created by Sue Ngo. |
